Halloween Makeup

We had a pretty small group of participants at the Halloween Makeup class on October  21 - I guess too many people had other things to do that night -- either that, or we taught them everything they needed to know last time :)

These makeup jobs were done by the class participants.  They brought their own subject (translation:  child)   and painted the faces themselves.  In this one, the dragon eyes are painted on the eyelids, so when he closes his eyes, you can see the dragon's eyes.

This girl brought a book about a cat who wanted to be a chihuahua -- she wants to be the cat for Halloween.  The makeup was done using the picture of the cat from the book.  The cat's eyes are painted on her eyelids.

This horn was applied to the face using prosthetic adhesive.  Any prosthetic, nose, ears, chin, etc., should then be blended in with latex and painted.  This job was not completed, but used as a demonstration.
Glad you don't have that growing on your face, huh?

Pictures coming up soon from the Tooele City Arts Council Halloween Carnival

We painted faces for 4 hours - constantly, non-stop, forever!
IT WAS REALLY FUN!

Christmas Show

Well, it looks like the Christmas show is not going to work out.  We really wanted to do "A Christmas Story".

When we applied for the license, the publishing company said it was "restricted".  That usually means someone in your area is doing the same show at about the same time.  We looked through all the web sites we could find for theatres in our area, from Provo to Ogden, and I checked with the high schools.  We can't find anybody doing it, but we can't get permission to do it.  Perhaps a traveling company is doing it.

Anyway . . . it looks like we won't be doing a Christmas show this year.  I would still like to do this show, so we are hoping for next year.

In the meantime, we are discussing "The King and I" for our summer show.  I still have to talk with Bill Gochis to make sure we can use the high school, but I think we'll be ok.  I hope, anyway.

My favorite musical joke:

You know you're a redneck when you think "The King and I" is a musical about you and Elvis.

Anyway, if anyone out there is reading this, let us know what you think about "King" -  also, we would really like to do "The Nerd" again sometime soon.  It's a great show - so funny.

We have two Halloween Make-up classes left!

Come join the fun.  We will be doing adult faces :  witches, skeletons, etc.
and
blood, gore, spooky skin, prostheses (chins, noses, horns, etc)

If anyone would like to donate 3 million dollars, we would name the theatre after you :)

Reader's Theatre

Eight members of LaForge Encore Theatre Company performed a reader's theatre at the Purple Cow bookstore on Saturday, October 9th.

Lori Crofts, Tracy Crane, Christin Saling, Trystin Crofts, Donovan Crane, Jenni Montague, Heather Gallegos, and Carol LaForge.

The author, Barbie McConnell, was there and signed some books for us.  She said she really enjoyed the performance.

We would really like to thank the Purple Cow
for letting us perform in their store and for sponsoring this book signing.  It was great fun.  We will probably perform this Reader's Theatre

again at some of the elementary schools
during October, since it is a Halloween story.

I would like to personally thank the actors who participated in this event.  It is great that you want to be a part of LaForge Encore and contribute to the advancement of the arts in Tooele County.

What a fun time!

LETC Halloween Makeup Classes

We are teaching makeup classes at the Dow James Building every Thursday in October at 7:00 p.m.  Our first class was actually last Thursday.  Christin taught children's fantasy faces and Bill started his prosthetics - zombie skin, fake fangs that actually fit over your own teeth, horns, etc.  Anything you can imagine can be done with makeup.

This Thursday you can learn any of the classes that were taught last week, or move on to something else.  Carol will be teaching adult character faces which includes learning about wrinkles and shading.  Or, if you just want to come to practice something you learned last time, the teachers will be there to help you.

Missy Thompson gave us a great write up in the October 5 edition of the Tooele Transcript Bulletin and Meagan Burr's photos were excellent.  I will try to get some picture posted, as soon as I figure out how.

There is a $5.00 fee for each class, but it's important that you know this money goes to pay for the makeup you use when you are taking the class.  Nobody gets paid to do this workshop.  We are just trying to help defray the cost of the makeup we purchased.

Come join the fun!  Tell all your friends!
